The Story Behind the Orange Stand
On August 17, 2015 the world got a little sweeter and a lot more Orange. It was on this day, their Uncle Marc’s Birthday, that the nieces and nephews of Marc Kuchler hosted their inaugural spin on a Lemonade Stand - selling only orange delicacies in a Glen Mills neighborhood. Over the years the Orange Stand has raised thousands of dollars for Miles for Marc - yes that’s right, THOUSANDS. But more importantly it’s instilled a desire in these young children - to advocate and give back. They are our fiercest philanthropists and we are endlessly impressed with their passion and dedication.
While the Covid-19 pandemic put a bit of a damper on their Orange Stand efforts in 2020, they were not discouraged. They painted motivational sayings and artwork on rocks for our Chemo Care Bags and passed out complimentary (Pandemic-friendly pre-packaged) treats to the neighbors who had supported them over the years. Their motivational messages providing never-ending strength and support to local patients in need of a support system.
As we continue to feel the effects of the pandemic on our outreach and community engagement, we try to embrace new and creative virtual ways in carrying out Marc’s legacy. Enter the Virtual Orange Stand.
